The Old Invisible Hand Trick

I have been musing on Adam Smith, the moral philosopher, for the past few days. As I said yesterday, I find it increasingly difficult to believe ‘an invisible hand’ alludes to ‘the market’.

Greeting the morning with procrastination, as is my habit, I checked Paul Krugman’s blog, The Conscience of a Liberal. In a post he titled ‘Sex and Drugs and Market’s Role’ I find some strong, if indirect, support for my position. …And a pretty good laugh, albeit an uncomfortable one.
